Dr. Sanjay Talbar, Assistant Professor of Electronics &
Telecommunication Engineering department has visited Cardiff School of
Engineering, Cardiff University, Wales, UK for Collaborative research
programme during 7th May to 3rd June 2005. He was associated with Prof.
Jonathan Chambers, from Centre of Digital Signal Processing, Cardiff
School of Engineering, UK.
Dr. Talbar worked on the topic Hybrid
approach using ICA & SVM for Information Retrieval He has visited to
Bristol University, Bristol, UK. Multimedia Signal/Image Processing
group of Bristol University is one of the strongest group in UK. The
work of the Multimedia Signal Processing Group relates primarily to
problems associated with image and video transmission and analysis.
The
group aim is to undertake innovative research resulting in market
leading technology in the following areas: Image, video and multimedia
communications over wireless networks, Image and video compression for
fixed networks and storage devices, Content analysis, description and
authentication for databases, archives and evidential purposes, Data and
information fusion, classification and tracking. He has also visited
private company Snell & Wilcox Pvt.
This company is involved in making
image processing hardware (and software) for the broadcast industry. The
Algorithms team at the Liss (Guildford) site is involved in
standardization activities at the Society for Motion Picture and
Television Engineers. A lot of the research have done here has to do
with conversion between TV standards (which involves motion estimation,
temporal and spatial segmentation, de-interlacing, and rescaling), but
we work on other image processing areas as well. |
